All Good Things Must Come To An End Jul 8, 2017: Anyone who knows me on here is aware of how dedicated I am to hosting the Online Big Brother group game for the past four years during the summertime. However, I am announcing that I will step down as a full-time host following the conclusion of Online Big Brother 4 “Triple Threat” in August 2017. I knew this day would arrive and it has been a very difficult decision, considering how blessed I have been with four seasons filled with incredible houseguests that I will never forget. It was just four years ago when I came onto the Tengaged scene. Honestly, I never expected to host such a successful group game and it is something I will remain with me forever.
My experience on Tengaged would not be possible without veteran, Nekoruru9898 taking me under his wing and showing me how to be a good, respectable player and how to navigate through the twists and turns of Tengaged. I would not be on here today without Nekoruru9898’s kind act to pass on his knowledge to a young, inexperienced player such as myself four years ago. Sadly, he has not been active for a very long time and it disappoints me that I did not have the opportunity to thank him for treating a novice with so much respect. As I sit here four years later, I feel like I am in a similar position as my mentor when he taught me. Nekoruru9898 was well respected by his peers, but he was in the same position as me. A young, man about to head off to college and tough decisions to make. The culture of Tengaged is constantly changing and unfortunately my mentor was a victim of change.
Speaking of change, it is one of reasons behind my decision to step down as a full-time host. When I joined Tengaged, the most popular group games were just Big Brother and Survivor. Now, there is so much diversity in the field of group games. The younger members of Tengaged have truly outdone themselves and it makes me happy watching Tengaged grow into something more than Big Brother and Survivor. I really enjoy the next wave of young, talented players who have a creative imagination. Many of those individuals have become excellent hosts, who spend a lot of time planning various group games and that is wonderful for Tengaged moving forward. However, it is bad news for my Online Big Brother series as the demand for people who solely want to focus on Big Brother is slowly but surely declining. Versatility is the future and it is happening right now in front of our eyes.
The MAIN reason I am taking a step back from hosting is because I simply do not have the time to be an efficient host anymore. As a college freshman starting this Fall, I have more responsibilities and priorities to focus on. My goal in life is to become a professional journalist and if I want to make it my career, then being a host will have to take the backseat as I focus on other opportunities. The reason I host is because of Nekoruru9898’s willingness to help others. I wanted to do the same and give back to the Tengaged community by giving my players the best virtual Big Brother experience possible. As I am currently focusing on my future within the journalism industry, I firmly believe that my players are not getting the best from me as a host, so the time has come for me to step down from full-time hosting duties.
Currently, the future of Online Big Brother is unknown beyond the conclusion of season four. My current season will definitely finish in it’s entirety. My goal is to have my Online Big Brother series continue for many years to come, but in the hands of someone else who has the time to dedicate towards making the group game a success and they must be a responsible individual. When I crown the winner of Online Big Brother 4 “Triple Threat” in August 2017, my days as a full-time host are over. I have made some wonderful memories these past four years and met many wonderful houseguests. I would not trade this experience for anything in the world!
I will be looking for potential candidates to help me host the game in Summer 2018 and beyond. Hopefully, I will still be able to remain in charge of the group game as the founder and owner of Online Big Brother, while the new host will bring new ideas and excitement that will make anybody want to play in future seasons! A fresh mind who has the time to make Online Big Brother continue growing into something truly special is what I want to see moving forward. This is definitely not a “retirement” (Ew, I feel old) or a farewell to Tengaged, but a way to remember where I came from. An inexperienced, young lad became a well respected group game host in the span of four years, thanks to Nekoruru9898! One final wish from me to the entire Tengaged community is to help someone. The most beautiful thing in the world is when you pass on knowledge to the next generation and give this person the confidence to be like you someday. For me, the future of Online Big Brother remains unknown, but there is definitely one final thought in mind before I sign off. I accomplished my goals by giving some of my houseguests the best virtual Big Brother experience and made a difference in their lives. Although not everyone has been pleased with my abilities as a host over four seasons, I have always tried my very best and put my houseguests before many of my responsibilities in real life because I care about doing a good job and doing it right. I will continue to work my hardest as a host until my time comes to an end. Kobster48 is a relatively unknown name on Tengaged, but I have left my mark here in ways I never imagined.
