Night 1 Auditions Notes:
-----------------------------
1. WELCOME BACK! I hope you all enjoyed your, what seems to be only a few weeks, that we're given every year between The Voice seasons!
2. Honestly, I was very pleased with this episode. There was not one performance that I disliked. I even enjoyed the country performances!
3. Kennedy is the obvious frontrunner after 1 night, and will prob stay as the frontrunner for a while...and honestly will probably make the finals haha. She is so good, especially for her age. Her control and her pitcher are damn near spot on, which is INSANE for a 13 year old. You can still tell that her voice is young, which might bother me later on, but for now, she's amazing.
4. Patrique was the most underrated performance of the first night. His voice was so soulful, it gave me chills. Loved every second of it.
5. Normally I'm not too much for these powerhouse female singers who just belt from start to finish (aka anyone who tries to cover Mamma Knows Best), but RADHA was very good here. She added to the song, which is refreshing, and she had great intensity without seeming like too much.
6. I absolutely LOVE when singers come on this show and can actually perform a nice falsetto without sounding super forced. Tyshawn was very good and I am so glad we got to hear just about everything about his voice, including his high notes, falsetto, and his lower register. Please just don't milk your falsetto the whole season like everyone else does on The Voice.
7. Sarah had some really good parts to her audition, and I love Janis Joplin, but as for a leaked audition, I thought she was decent. She has a lot of potential, but her audition got lost in the crowd this time around.
8. Mercedes was a bit pitchy in certain areas of the song, but her voice is really nice, otherwise, and she hit those high notes well!
9. Tyke gave us a really relaxing performance, and I'm a sucker for some of these simple songs/performances, so I really enjoyed it. With that being said, he sounded a bit shaky in some areas, especially that last note...like what? Is no one gonna talk about that? lmao
10. Kameron has a more bluesy country voice, so I'm already intrigued. Let's hope they don't trap him in pop country the whole season. He kind of has a Gavin DeGraw feel to him.
11. Mikele is a roots kinda country guy, so there's some hope for him as well! Same thing about Kameron though, if he gets stuck singing pop country all season, I'll lose interest.
12. As for the new stuff this season, I like the idea of the comeback stage, as I feel like they fuck up on 1 or 2 artists during the auditions each year. But what the fuck is up with this new YouTube format for their videos???? UHHHHH let me wrong your account guys, I'd do so much better lmao.
13. Sorry for being late...I actually haven't had wifi at my house for the past month, so I'll basically be making these blogs at my convenience either at school, at my moms house, or whenever I go to study at Panera. I'll have episode 2's recap up tomorrow at the latest!
14. LASTLY, Birks4444 was curious about having a skype chat for anyone who wants to chat about The Voice either for fun, or while the episode is live. If any of you would like to be added, message me your skype.
**LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO BE TAGGED OR UNTAGGED**
Joe1110BritishRomeo17 LMAO you're both right, fuck. Good start to the season for me ^_^ thanks for pointing that out. As I said in my blog, I've been w/o wifi, but i'm also w/ cable, so I'm basically a caveman at this point.
Jameslu @Birks444 I liked her, but there were a few pitchy parts. Nothing awful, but I thought the competition of the night was really tight. I'll have to give it another listen tho.
