The movie is one example of improving aspects of the book
Like I love the book, but I’m happy the director/writer didn’t stay so loyal to it because the way the book was written didn’t go very in depth with the characters and it would’ve been a really like underdeveloped plotline, where as this movie really made you care about the characters and it gave them more of a backstory and personality
They’re both phenomenal though in different ways but the way the book is written only works in BOOK form
