I was like 16, it was my senior year of high school, and I had OJT so I got to work a bit earlier during the week when the grocery store I worked at was slower.
Now don't get me wrong, grocery store music playlists overall are usually trash (especially the one I worked at, where the store directer got to pick the playlist and he went for a country heavy one that played a lot of like 90s country music...), but like there are always some gems in them and I liked to make the best of a bad situation!
So yeah, I'd have fun with it, I'd get into the good songs a bit when I was able to.
Anyways, so Vanessa Hudgens 'Come Back To Me' was playing, and as a gay like that'd a total vibe. I was feeling it, I was singing along, I was having a good time.
Enters like a 40 year old man who was a customer is ready to check out, and he comes up to me saying "What do you know about Vanessa Hudgens?"
Like, excuse me? High School Musical was my everything as a kid? What the fuck do YOU know about Vanessa Hudgens... you're like more than twice my age? I hope you weren't watching HSM in your 30s?
But yeah, this man was just completely shocked that a teenager knew who Vanessa Hudgens was? He really couldn't get over that.
