Welcome to your fifth round of judging!

Before we begin judging, anthousai has to be medevaced from the competition because of a colonoscopy gone wrong. We all wish him the best and hope that he has a speedy recovery.

You are all safe. Olympia, although your song absolutely took me out, it was not great by any means. You werked that immunity for all it was worth, and I ain't mad at you for that. Congratulations to you all for surviving another week.

The BEST songs of the week. Congratulations, these were my favorites. You will get your critiques in order of submission.

Jacksonjoseph99 - “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings” by Caroline Polachek

This was really pretty. I was ready to discount this as just another run of the mill pop song, but the more you get into it the better it gets. I enjoyed her voice a lot, and I was really intrigued when she changed it up in the pre-chorus so it sounded almost robotic. The bridge also really caught my attention as well, once again using her voice in a unique way. It took me out tbh. This is really poppy when you scratch the surface, but it actually has a lot more substance to it than I realized, and I was pretty impressed with this entry overall. Great pick!

MichelleObama - “Não Sou Obrigada” by POCAH

Oh wow this was quite the experience. I do think Brazilian artists really just give it to you unapologetically, and that’s my favorite thing about listening to one of their songs. It’s so upbeat and infectious, and even if I can’t catch much lyrically aside from basic phrases and maybe the song title, I’m still bopping along with this track. It has its messy moments, but I can’t deny that I was grooving nonetheless. Nice job here!

Turkeylover - “Blessing” by Suki

She’s just wearing a bikini, why is this video age restricted? Like I’ve seen much more vulgar music videos from more well known artists. Anyways I LOVED this beat, it had a really cute distorted quality to it that I was living for. Out of all the tracks that went for this more chilled out vibe (there were quite a few of them this round), this one was my favorite. The vocals were FINE but nothing particularly groundbreaking. I wish the vocals slayed as hard as the beat because whew this would’ve been quite the contender, but I still absolutely adored this song and would definitely put it on again.

I have made some decisions. Runner up this week is…

Turkeylover! Great track once again, but if her vocals were better you would’ve won this week. You have advanced to the next round.

It’s down to jacksonjoseph99 and MichelleObama. The winner this week is…

Jacksonjoseph99! As much as I wanted to give the win to an artist I hadn’t heard of, I think this track was pretty stellar all around. Congratulations on your second win, and for winning immunity for the next round.

MichelleObama, great track once again. You are safe this week!

Unfortunately, we need to give the critiques to the lowest scoring entries this week. Here are your critiques in order of submission.

Lexeyjane - “Gone” by Katrina Stuart

This was fine. I think she has a great voice, and I think that was the highlight for me in this song. The beat itself was fine, although a little boring. I know this song is supposed to be more melancholy, so I get why this is more chilled, but I feel like her great voice wasn’t enough to carry this song. There are moments in this song where I feel like a lot more could’ve been done to really elevate this song. This wasn’t particularly bad, but there were a lot of great songs this week, and I’m afraid this is on the weaker end of the spectrum for me.

Letal - “Questioning My Mind” by Ambar Lucid

A lot of you went the chill route this round for some reason, not that it’s a bad thing or anything, but I think that hurts you here because out of all the chilled entries I think I enjoyed this one the least. I don’t think this song was all that captivating. I feel like in order for me to really get into a song that is so chilled out like this one, there needs to be something really innovative or special about it that’s going to make me want to care. There was never really a moment in this song that I was particularly impressed about. I loved the Spanish parts she added, I thought that was super cute, but I just don’t see myself going back to this.

The first contestant that is safe is…

FromAWindow! I really didn’t hate your song all that much, it just wasn’t as strong as your competitors this week. Congratulations on advancing to the next round.

Now onto the bottom 2 this week. Lexeyjane and Letal, your songs had their charm to it, but didn’t quite align with my personal music tastes. However, I have made my decision. This round I have decided to keep…

BOTH OF YOU! I wasn’t particularly a fan of either song, but I don’t think either of them were bad enough to justify a THIRD double elimination in a row. I have to be honest and say that in terms of quality, this was probably one of the best rounds of the competition so far aside from the immunity winner. If I had to pick one you to stay, it would have been lexeyjane because I think her entry had some of the best vocals this round. Letal, consider yourself lucky. Congratulations to you both on surviving this round.

Next round will be posted later this afternoon. I have a lot of cleaning to do in my apartment. Until next time!

(I didn't proofread any of this so sorry if there are spelling/grammar mistakes hehe)
