Hello my music queens. Are you ready for your second episode of critiques? I must say that this round was SO HARD to judge, yall surprised me with your amazing taste level and I couldn't be more proud. Lets get it started and try something different:

Midiaw ━━ Hindi Zahra ‘’Any Story’’ ━━ This is clearly a great recovery from you. I did like the song you proposed for this week's theme, especially because I had never heard of Hindi Zahra before and she is a QUEEN. The lyrics are very touchy and it made me think of myself wondering what paths and narratives I am constructing in my life after a massive party - a futile story.
_Matt ━━ Moby ‘’The Last Day (with Skylar Grey)’’ ━━ I loved this song. The construction of it reminded me a lot of ‘The xx’ music, which is one of my favourite bands ever. I see myself 100% listening to this to reflect and to chill after a massive party and even confronting myself in sadness and confusion. This is an amazing recovery from last episode’s performance, keep your mind straight on that line.
Brandonator ━━ Kelly Clarkson ‘’Dark Side’’ ━━ I’m really shocked to see this song around here. But I’m happily shocked. In my point of view, this song could be seen as an optimistic anthem, which would be the opposite of tonight’s theme. However, Kelly does not deny her darkside and after partying and chemically modifying your brain, you could definitely tell that being a party freak or a drug user can be your darkside. This is a nice and different perspective of the theme… the fear of being judged or abandoned due to the consequences of your actions.
tswiftlover13 ━━ Kesha ‘’Hungover’’ ━━ Ke-$-ha is the best! I must say that this era of hers is my favourite even though we all know that she was struggling a lot, so it’s probably her least favourite, lol. Now, talking about the song choice, it definitely fits the theme but I also find it very predictable and kind of a safe choice, which for the record, doesn’t mean it’s a bad one at all.
Lukesaur ━━ Abra ‘’Pull Up’’ ━━ It has been a while since the last time that I listened to this song and I must confess that by doing that tonight, I remembered the fact that Abra’s music always makes me shiver. She is definitely the bomb. I’d say that this song has the ultimate vibing kind of track and I love it, but MAYBE I’d like to listen to it while I’m riding my car w/ my sisters, smoking a goddamn cigarette and enjoying the nighttime, which is not necessarily an after party situation.
ponga ━━ Concorde ‘’Made for Love’’ ━━ First of all, I need to thank you for showing me this! It’s definitely one of the most sensible songs I’ve heard in a while, I loved it. It gives me a mix of feelings about falling in love and enjoying the after party with someone I care about. My only issue with this song choice is: IT’S TOO DAMN BEAUTIFUL to fulfill my after party pessimistic mood since all I wanna do when I listen to it is marry someone and have romantic sex.
Eoin ━━ Amy Winehouse ‘’Back To Black’’ ━━ You went for the kill with a sad song. Like I said to Booyah, this is not the problem here: this is a major hit when it comes to enjoying your sadness and that’s why I totally get why you chose it. But even the bad vibe has a vibe and maybe this song just gives me the funeral kind of storyline. BUT, her jazz influences still got me jamming.
Well, now, here's what I have to say to the rest of the queens standing before me:
spinfur ━━ Mothica ‘’VICES’’ ━━ Holy Jesus. Here’s what I have to say to you, spinfur: this song is my new VICE! This is another amazing episode for you ‘cause you’re not only showing me a great sense of understanding the assignments that are being proposed but you’re also giving me eargasms. I feel like I just listened to the not-so-famous version of Tove Love - Habits (Stay High) and it fits perfectly for the after party vibes where you find yourself confused and questioning what the hell you’re doing w/ your life.
mathboy9 ━━ St. Vincent ‘’Fast Slow Disco’’ ━━ I have to say that I’m really confused about this submission. First of all, this is a MAJOR BOP, I love St. Vincent and I love the whole concept of this song: its videoclip, beats and vocals. However, when I listen to this song I kinda want to return to the club and dance my pain away in a melancholic way(?). I do see the after party potential here but maybe I just wanted something that I could think about last night as a place I don’t wanna return to.
Hunty ━━ Charli XCX ‘’Grins’’ ━━ I mean, this song choice cannot go wrong: True Romance is my favourite era/album of Charli XCX even though a lot of fans say it has a very childish/teenage vibe. By that I mean that I do see myself lost in my bedroom listening to this and daydreaming about all the choices I already made in life… and all I can say is that it is a nice apocalyptic view.
Booyahhayoob ━━ Evanescence ‘’Lost in Paradise’’ ━━ Ok, you went for a sad Evanescence song even though I said that the submission wasn’t necessarily supposed to be a sad one. But that’s not my problem with your song of choice this episode. Although this is a very beautiful song and Amy Lee has one of the greatest vocals of all times, I see myself much more listening to something like this after a break-up or during a depressive episode and not really after a party, because I wouldn’t have the patience or the tenderness that this track requires. Even the bad vibe has a vibe and this song is just… beautifully sad with zero vibes.
konohavillage1 ━━ Robyn ‘’Send To Robin Immediately’’ ━━ This is my favourite song when the topic is Honey. So, it really hurts my heart to say that I don’t know if this would be on my after party playlist. The reason for that is based on the fact that I see this song as the celebration of a beautiful feeling, the realization of love and its urge to scream at the top of your lungs every emotion that you carry for your loved ones (And this realization it’s the opposite of my ugly and pessimistic skin after a party trying to find a point in living).
boyfriend ━━ Kari Faux ‘’LEAVE ME ALONE’’ ━━ And she rises like a phoenix! Last episode you almost ended up at the bottom but I could already see that your taste level is impeccable… and I was right. I’m super addicted to this track and it would definitely be a major soundtrack to my after party vibes: thinking about all the futilities I put myself through last night and the fact that I just want the world to go away bc people in general are fake as$ beyatches, even though I might be just mentally confused or kinda sad. Please, Maya, hit my line and call my phone!
