Addressing my "unpopular opinion" blog

Feb 8, 2019 by FireWolf
Please read the full blog before commenting your opinions on me or on the statements.

As many of you guys know, I had a top blog about a day or two ago titled "Unpopular opinion (concerning moderation)" and I would like to address this blog as it has received a tremendous amount of backlash. If you want to read the initial blog, here is the link:
https://tengaged.com/blog/FireWolf/8823848/unpopular-opinion-concerning-moderation

So, many people got mad about a certain line in the blog. I have addressed a few people individually who respectfully asked me about the blog, but I want to write an in depth blog explaining what was truly meant by the statement. If you don't know what I am referring to, here is the quote:
"Here are the things it shouldn't be used for:
- Offensive language (the worst tengaged rule in my book)"

So the main reason for this blog is for the purpose of explaining myself but before that, I would like to talk about the stars poll real quick.

It has come to my attention that some people blatantly asked people to vote me out for the sole reason that I made that blog. I will not be naming any names or "spilling any tea" on this issue, but it should be addressed since the poll was literally 50/50 so it was the sole deciding factor in my eviction.

Now, I'll get into what I meant by that statement.

There is a clear as day difference between homophobia and offensive language, same goes for racism and xenophobia. What I mean by that is, just simply saying a word is not bigotive. Some examples of when it's not bigotive is:

- Quoting the word with intentions of calling people out on being bigotive
- Explaining what the word means
- Typo (it happens when you mean to say "negger" in a game and spell check screws you over. I don't use that word so it isn't a problem for me.)

Yet the majority of the cases where people are banned for "offensive language" it falls under one of the following criteria. I understand blatant racism or homophobia, but a lot of the time that is not the case. Also, I have another point to make.

These words are held at a way too high standard. Here are a list of bannable things to give you an idea:

Impersonating a moderator = 1 day
Harassment = 1 day
Copying designs = 1 day (previous rule)
***USING MULTIS = 2 DAYS***
Death threats = 3 days, or warning
***OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE = 3 DAYS, NO WARNINGS***
False reports = 3 days (baseline)
False accusation of illegal activities = 3 days, or warning

Please explain to me how blatantly cheating, DEATH THREATS, and false accusations toward people (which I should mention can possibly ruin their careers if it was somehow discovered by a boss or something) is somehow held at a lower standard than something that often times isn't even bigotive. Plus, a lot of the time it happens on Skype. Tengaged moderation has no place in Skype issues.
