D & M's Music Taste - WEEK 2 Results & WEEK 3 Theme.

Dec 15, 2020 by Darriusdabest
The submissions this week were WAYYYY better than last week. SO sorry to the girl or guy that was eliminated tonight. Now on to the results.

The following people are SAFE (In order of Submission):

Paige ( paige54) - "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys

Darrius - I haven’t heard this song in sooooo long, but Alicia did her THING!! This song always makes me emotional and you definitely hit this themes mark.

Mike - Wow..I didn't know how much a missed Alicia's voice. She did what needed to be done and I'm glad that you choose this as your ballad choice :)

Andrew ( iigalaxyii) - "Selfish" by Madison Beer

Darrius - I have never heard this song so thank you so much for introducing me to it. Madison Beer does not ever disappoint. Beautiful song choice.

Mike -  I've never really listened to Madison Beer before and this was a beautiful introduction to her. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this and I'm glad this is the route you went

Christian ( christian_) - "Reflection" by Christina Aguilera

Darrius - STANDING OVATION THISSSSS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. WHEN I SAY BALLAD I WANT THIS!!! SHE GAVE ME VOCALS, SHE GAVE ME EMOTION. Another great song choice from you!

Mike -  This was a cute little cover. We all know Christina slays but I'm thinking is her voice a little too strong for this song? I think back to the original and something about this just seems wrong. I can't deny that she slayed but I think i would prefer a different Xtina ballad.

Austin Minaj ( itsaustin) - "My Immortal" by Evanescence

Darrius - his was a new one for me, I’ve heard bring me to life by them and this is such a totally different vibe. I liked this song though. The little rock out part towards the end gave it a little kick as well.

Mike - This was very beautiful. I don't know many people who are on the Evanescence wave. There's usually "Bring me to life" and that's all when it comes to them so I appreciate you bringing this beauty to the surface.

Silver ( silver09) - "Better in Time" by Leona Lewis

Darrius - This song never fails to make me sing along. Leona Lewis is so underrated but her vocals ALWAYS shine. There is no denying the excellence of this song. Good choice.

Mike - 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 see for this song I need to listen like 3-4 times. Not because I need to catch onto it but because I want to be the lead, the background vocals, the ad libs..all of it!

Emily ( emzthorne) - "Only a Dream" by Zella Day

Darrius - This wouldn’t have been my first pick, or my second or even third. But it was picked so now I have to give my opinion. I loved the lyrics, I just don’t know if I vibe with the setup or vocals. Not terrible but I do think you were outshined tonight.

Mike - Aww this was cute. I think depending on how the rest of the submissions shape up you could skate by but this wasn't the serve I was hoping for.

Turkey Lee Curtis ( turkeylover) - "Someone Like You" by Adele

Darrius - Beautiful, simply beautiful. I hate that two artists sent Adele because now it feels like a mini showdown, and I really do love this song. But you got slightly outshined by “Hello” in my opinion. Someone like you will always be that girl though.

Mike -  Okay another artist showdown. Personally I prefer Someone like you over Hello. So unlike Darrius, i think you have a slight edge over Hello.

Congratulations, you 7 have made it to WEEK 3. Moving on to the Top 3.

Sub ( sublegendd) - "Hello" by Adele

Darrius -  STANDING OVATION THIS SONG. ugh this song always gets me in my feels. She put her entire heart into this masterpiece, as she does most of her songs. Great Job and an improvement from last week.

Mike - This is one of those songs you just know instantaneously. There's no doubting Adele's talent but I think it's a little safe as far as Adele's ballad options go. Very mainstream but when it works it works and there's no reason to fix what's not broken. Great choice!

Austin F ( austino15fffan) - "My Hands" by Leona Lewis

Darrius - This was a new one for me ANDDDD I think that it was the superior Leona Lewis Song of the night in my opinion. The lyrics, the chorus in the back. I really enjoyed it.

Mike -  looks in 2 Leona Lewis posts back to back I felt every single emotion throughout this song. You kinda ate better in time up. Huge step up from last round. I'm excited to see what's to come

Pinkie ( pinkiepie512) - "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston

Darrius - STANDING OVATION THIS IS A SERVE. Taken from us too soon, this song captures everything a ballad is supposed to capture. There will never be another. Congratulations for a huge improvement.

Mike - FAIRY GODMOTHER!!!! I actually got emotional listening to this song. I ALWAYS get goosebumps when I hear this and I'm kinda at a loss for words. But what's understood doesn't have to be explained

AND THE WINNER OF WEEK 2 IS...... PINKIE!!!!, you have won immunity for next week. Congratulations to you 3 for representing the Highs of WEEK 2.

Now...to the Bottom 3 :

Abby ( absol) - "To Feel Alive" by Kali Uchis

Darrius - Idk, I- I just don’t think its a …ballad. Maybe I’m wrong but I could have done without this one.

Mike - You're introducing me to some new artists with your choices and I really appreciate it. I love the melody of the song but I couldn't connect with the lyrics. Like she said, "I just wanna feel something".

SJ ( sjsoccer88) - "Purple Rain" by Prince

Darrius - Okay..I- I know that this is a really popular song but I could never get the hype behind, or even behind Prince sometimes. May he RIP but this song did not deliver especially for this theme. I expected more out of you.

Mike - This was kinda a drag ngl but I respect your song choice. Prince is an icon and there is no doubt about that but putting this side by side with some of the other submissions this just falls a little flat. I think this should've been saved for a different theme, not for ballads

Maxi ( maxi1234) - "Suicide" by Isaac Dunbar

Darrius - Okay so I wasn’t a big fan of this song, and it got a little boring to me after the first verse. I was waiting on that WOW moment and it never really showed.

Mike -  I was really wanting there to be a wow moment and it never came so that's slightly disappointing. It was consistent but kinda bland

So with that being said.....the contestant going home is.....SJ! So sorry, your week one was a bop but you fell flat. Stay beautiful!

Since Mike ( ForceMike1) came up with Week 2's theme, I will be giving out week 3's.

WEEK 3 THEME : WOMEN IN RAP. THIS WEEK YOU MUST POST A RAP SONG MADE BY A FEMALE, IT CAN HAVE A FEATURE BUT THE SONG HAS TO BE THE WOMANS. (FEMALE RAPPER EXAMPLES : NICKI, CARDI, CITY GIRLS, MEG, DOJA, FLO MILLI, TIERRA WHACK ETC). YOU HAVE 24 HOURS.

You have 24 Hours, and cannot post a song already submitted this season.
