When people feel the need to give advice in situations that they don’t need to give advice. Just acknowledge that you’re present for venting and that’s it - I’m not expecting a fucking page long essay of advice I JUST NEEDED TO VENT TO YOU and now I’m done so let’s move the subject on god fucking damn.
And I feel so bad thinking this because yeah you’re trying to be nice but you’re not God - I don’t expect you to have the answer for everything so plz stop the nonsense and just be a normal human being

well some people provide emotional support, and some provide intellectual support! maybe they just arent the right person to vent to
Maybe tell them you only wanna vent and aren't looking for advise? Usually when people share their problems with me I assume they're looking for advise unless they state otherwise
I know a lot of people who sound like helpless/desperate when they vent as if I'm supposed to be solving their problems, so I'll try to give advice just bc it seems like thats what they want.
rocker917 yah I told this guy the situation then IMMEDIATELY changed the subject to my current workout / The Challenge coming on tonight so hopefully he gets the hint that I really don’t need advice and would rather just change the subject
