imageAh yes, it is that time of the decade again where we get to sit and enjoy Survivor on a college campus. Little fun fact, I remember speaking to Austin( titan24maniac) about his start of hosting way back in 2010-11 when he first began doing Survivor Maryland. Safe to say that it has come full circle and the amount of actual Survivor players and bloggers that watch and follow this series and all of the other “homemade” versions of Survivor is quite something. You’re a trend setter Austin!

Anyways, we’ve been highly anticipating this season for a few years now. I’m sure other TG superfans like timster and RShowFreak understand how much agony there has been waiting for this season to finally be online to watch. Plenty more have been slowly finding out about this series and if you haven’t seen it before, I strongly recommend you watch it from Season 2(Maryland Outback) and continue. Season 1 wasn’t Austin’s best go-around at production value, but even he admits it. If you are interested though, do watch those early 10-20 minute episodes so you get an idea about the lone s1 representative for All-Stars.

Ok, so as the game starts and we get the usual intro to some of the players, you get hit with some nostalgia from the past few years. For those of us that watch Survivor, when you get to see some of your favorite players make a return, you kind of think “wow, this is so cool to see these guys back”. The feeling of seeing some of the most memorable players like Siona, Ryan, Nicole Centi, and Chris Lecompte from season 2, perhaps the 2 most known players from season 3, Holli and Victoria (Ok, maybe 2 of the top 3...pretty sure Foluke was the most popular off that season), and then you have perhaps one of the most enjoyable alliances of the whole series, the SohCahTrio comprised of Shannon, Evan, and Micah, as well as a “lone wolf” in Alex P from season 4. Oh, then you have Jordan Schuble from Season 1 (which again, if you haven’t seen any of those episodes, do watch just to get an idea of how he is as a player).

Along with some of these players that really got deep in the game, you get a mixture of players that got taken out way too early. Rebecca and Ashley were 2 players that got taken down very early in their original season(2), despite making their marks on the game before they left. Sierra and Sabrina as well were 2 players that looked like they could have a massive impact in season 3, but were taken out early as well. Michelle from season 4, another player taken out early that didn’t really get a chance to play post-merge.

Then, you have some of the more known players that got taken out in the early stages of the merge. Chris Thomas from season 2, despite being a force in the pre-merge was knocked out early after the merge. Alex G and Eric from season 3, also got taken out quickly after the merge. Then Brandon from season 4, who also got voted out after the merge.

So, all of these players bring a little bit of different things to the table when it comes to Survivor Maryland, and whether you agree with some of the casting choices or you don’t, you have to admit that all 20 of these players kept this thing going and made it into what it is today, an All-Star level game.

Now, getting into the game, Austin reveals that we have the classic Survivor tribe divide of boys vs girls, seen in just a handful of CBS seasons, never in Survivor Maryland. I really liked this aspect of the divisions, because you get a good mixture of each original season on the tribes, so nobody really can get a clear cut majority based on prior seasons.
