For users who have been on Tengaged for a long time, The Duel was always a game being fought to return repeatedly. The game mode encouraged more player vs. player type battles, where only the strongest mini-game champions stood a chance at being crowned the next winner. Having been one of the only games on the platform to include a "Unenroll" button, many users found themselves frustrated at the long wait times for games to fill, and the game mode was removed from Tengaged time and time again.
Having been well over two years since the game's most recent appearance, it seems users are still clamoring at the opportunity to experience the game one more time. Less than 10% of people found no reason to return a seemingly stale game mode to the site, figuring it would easily be removed again once people stopped playing it. On the contrary, nearly two-thirds of voters are still eager to give The Duel one more chance.
There are quite a few users who don't remember the game, therefore there's no saying whether it would be appreciated or heavily criticized by newer users. Those who do remember The Duel, like Lemjam6 gave the short and sweet response that "Love is an overstatement, but I would definitely play it. Def remove unenroll button!"
It should go without saying that the inclusion of the unenroll button was directly responsible for longer wait times, and it's purpose remained a mystery to those who enjoyed playing often. Many users who stated they wanted to see The Duel return advocated that the button gets removed.
Interestingly enough, small incentives to join like lower entry prices or higher rewards were typically ignored when discussing the revival of The Duel. While this isn't to say these incentives wouldn't help the game mode gain more traction, most people would enjoy playing The Duel regardless. It just goes to show that users won't sweat the details when it comes to a new game. The fact of the matter is that they want it, and they want it now.
But I turn the question over to the commenters. Is it worth it to give The Duel yet another chance to shine? Or should efforts be focused on something completely different? Let me know what you think in the comment section below! And as always, I look forward to you tuning in next time!
What id love more than anything is a merging tribe actually going into a separate game where they compete as a tribe that only plays immunity every time ie. a merge
Even if there wasn’t a jury it would just be nice to play some sort of merge type game beyond group games
