As I have said previously, I will be playing Sequester: Star Wars tomorrow night and I feel like I should make a statement prior to the game so that people can have an idea as to why I am doing this for a third time.
I would like to dedicate my participation in tomorrow night's game to Ian Terry and Kaysar Ridha of Big Brother 22 and to all reality contestants with neurodivergent struggles simply because doing these journeys exceeds the expectations that society has in regards to neurodivergent individuals.
Why, do you all ask, am I doing Sequester: Star Wars tomorrow and hope to do future Sequester shows? I'm sure you all know that Heroes vs. Villains 2 was not a picnic for me and I was mocked by other players for displaying autistic tendencies. However, I am not alone in that struggle and I keep coming back to the show so that I can teach neurotypical individuals that neurodivergent people like myself are capable of not only living, but thriving.
I want to be a voice for people like me even though it is not easy to be a voice. I am constantly marginalized or bullied for being neurodivergent, but I am not the only one. I have to forget myself and go to work serving as a voice and an example of functional, talented, capable neurodivergent people because who else will if I do not?
There are not very many neurodivergent people cast in reality television because we are feared when we don't deserve to be. People like me are still people and deserve to be included, treated with dignity and respect, and loved.
I've been a part of the entertainment industry for 24 years and counting and even though I'm neurodivergent, I strive to do my part as I can so that indifference can be defeated. I stand by IDIC - Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Do you?
