I spent most of my morning taking a MasterClass on Zoom from the Antaeus Theatre Company called 'Shakespeare's Rhetoric' moderated by Star Trek's Armin Shimerman and it was absolutely delightful. He is so good at explaining things for both reading and performance purposes.
We were allowed to interrupt and ask questions about what he was teaching during the lesson and the host of the call actually let me unmute and ask my question to Armin personally. I asked "Is it possible to make a point and be taken seriously using a combination of pathos, ethos, and logos to strengthen the argument? If so, how is the best way to go about structuring it so your argument is successful?"
Armin was delighted to answer the question and the basic answer he gave is that all arguments should involve a combination of the three and he went into a short, but deep explanation about that. I am so delighted that I was given the opportunity to speak to him personally about something to do with his class. He taught us several interesting concepts before having some volunteers read some monologues to us so we could see the lessons he taught in action.
I've personally been involved in writing and other creative arts since I was 7/8 years old and I absolutely appreciate every opportunity to take further education within the subject of creative arts that is put in my path. This class was so short and so intense, but I absolutely LOVED it and drank every bit of it in.
I want to take more classes like this so I can learn more about language, communication, literature, and everything else to do with creative arts. I hope there are more virtual classes like this available so I can become wiser in these subjects.
