I'm a Primary School teacher and the children I teach are 5 and 6 years old.
On Friday, we were walking back from our local church to school. The whole school were there and we were the last class to leave. There is a major crossroads close to the church that we have to cross, each class crosses one by one and carries on walking back to school.
We had just crossed the road safely and suddenly a speeding silver car smashes into another car that had been turning at the crossroads. Myself and the parents that came along shielded the children the best we could. Glass and debris from the crash went everyone. The speeding silver car ended up on the pavement, just where we had been standing 40/50 seconds before.
Seconds before the children were on the road...so yeah, it made me think of how close the situation was and could it be more than luck that kept them safe. To my knowledge the people in the accident were OK, but my priority was getting the children back to school safely so we moved on as soon as I knew everyone was able to carry on.
gosh! well, sometimes, its just luck, but occasionally, things like this question if there is something else out there! but the word that springs to mind is lucky!
Yep i'm sure "god" would choose to play favorites and bless some people rather than others. Like the Dursleys.
"Here little Timmy, i'll make sure this brutal accident causing the people thousands in damage repair/medical expenses doesn't hit you!"
"But god, what about the actual people in the accident?"
"Eh fuck em. And the starving children and slaves around the world too."
Things like this have happened to me before. I've always viewed a higher power giving us free will and allowing things to happen organically, judging us for our actions after we've passed on.
Wow
A few days ago i was with my mom in our car and at an intersection a motorcycle was hit by a bus. The guy flew off the motorcycle and his cycle hit a group of kids about 10-12 years old. They all didnt get seriously injured but two broke a few bones. The guy on the cycle died. It was really bad
...It's not like you had a near death experience or anything so how did that experience make you question the existence of a higher power? Things like that happen all the time. Are you saying you now believe in God or are you now question if you believe in God? I'm confused...
Glad you and the kids were all safe atleast ;(
