I think bets are great in the sense that they are a fun and easy way to earn some quick $Ts. That being said I also feel bets sort of munipulate the game. If someone has a very large number of bets everyone is too scared to evict them because they don't want to piss off the betters.
IMO bets should stay, but I don't think anyone should be able to see who bets for who until the end :)
