As a white male living in the Canada, it's very easy to look at the #BlackLivesMatter movement and believe it doesn't affect me... and feel like it’s not my place to comment or get involved. But everyone needs to realize it can’t just be on people of colour to deal with what’s going on. It’s up to ALL OF US, black, white, everyone.
Watching a man struggling and begging for his last breathe... how can any human being, no matter your race, age, gender, not be in some way affected by that. It’s disgusting
And for anyone saying that all this rioting isn’t fair... you have clearly never felt like you weren’t heard or that you weren’t equal, and you CLEARLY do not understand fairness. WHATS UNFAIR is the fact that people are losing brothers, sisters, moms, dads, merely because of the colour of their skin... the fact that people don’t feel like they can walk freely in the streets because of the of the colour of their skin... the fact that people are being ignored when they crying out in fear of being killed because of the colour of their skin...
Peaceful protesting in not enough. The American government has been brushing aside peaceful protests for decades. There needs to be extreme measures taken for things need to change. Even though I will never know the pain and suffering they have had to face, or what it feels like to try to survive in a world with all this systemic racism, I know I can use my own voice and you all should too..
