Steph started on the Malolo tribe and found herself easily making tight bonds with much of her tribe mates. This led her to be one of the deciding factors at the first tribal council, where she saw Donathan as a potential ally, and so she pushed the vote towards Stephanie Gonzalez leaving instead unanimously. Stephanie was an asset during the swimming portions of the challenges, but that was not enough to save Malolo from returning to tribal. She considered working with Jacob, who shared information with her such as that his Idol was fake and the advantage he received. He pitched for Michael to go instead, so Stephanie approached her closest ally Jenna about it. On Day 7, she remained on Malolo during a tribe swap, but found herself in the minority as former Naviti members outnumbered her and her Malolo allies Jenna, Michael, and Brendan. Her decision to send Chris to Ghost Island led to Morgan being voted off of the other tribe. When New Malolo went to tribal for the first time, Michael used his Idol on Stephanie, after she called out Bradley and Kellyn for being in a power alliance. Unfortunately, the Idol was misplayed with Brendan going home, leaving her, Jenna, and Michael on the chopping block. Steph went to Ghost Island, to no success, with her having to share a bed with spiders that crawled all over her. When Malolo lost again, Stephanie pleaded her cast unsuccessfully, becoming the fifth person voted out in a unanimous vote 7-1 on Day 14, with Michael and Jenna joining the others in voting her out. ?cid=3640f6095bef79255268445336b793ba
Stephanie is a super fan and watched every single episode since the show started, when she was in college and saw it come on in her “shitty dorm”. She applied for season 2, which was the season that really drew her in as a fan. She auditioned by sending in a VHS tape and would make up fake email addresses so she could send in her video more than once. She went to at least 2 casting calls and applied over 15 times. The furthest she made prior to being cast on the show was she got a phone call once, but heard nothing back. When she did find out she was cast, she was having lunch in a restaurant and started freaking out and celebrating; afterwards random people came up and congratulated her not knowing what she was happy about. She had to figure out childcare and had her mom take care of her kids, who had no idea where she was going besides the made-up story she told them. She was in the middle of training for another Ironman when she got the news, which she canceled. Stephanie has been all over the world, including more than 24 countries and six continents. She taught English in Siberia and completed an Ironman. Stephanie is the first first-time player to not attend the reunion, joining Brandon Hantz (banned from the Caramoan reunion), Brenda Lowe (pregnant during Caramoan reunion, appeared via Satellite), and Vytas Baskaskas (banned from the Cambodia show for leaving pre-jury early). The other three were on their second seasons.
