are men more likely to find idols compared to women?
I was listening to an lfc roundtable podcast earlier (subchannel of rhap) and they brought up a very interesting point of view to the way survivor is constructed.
Brent, a member of the lfc, brought up the fact that nearly every idol is hidden in the woods, where if you constantly are someone who search for wood, it's easier to come across. In survivor, the gender bias (with exceptions) is that the men get the firewood while women maintain the camp.
I personally found this intriguing, so I did research (I may have errors):
• Out of the 92 people that have found idols, only 15 were women (16%)—
-Amanda Kimmel
-Parvati Shallow
-Sugar Kiper
-Taj Johnson-George
-Sandra Diaz-Twine
-NaOnka Mixon
-Kristina Kell
-Sabrina Thompson
-Kim Spradlin
-Abi Maria Gomes
-Natalie Anderson
-Jenn Brown
-Carolyn Rivera
-Kelley Wentworth
-Lauren Rimmer
• Of the 17 people to have found more than 1 idol, only 2 were women (Parvati and Kelley).
• Of the 15 women who found idols, 4 were found either at exile, a challenge, or literally AT the campsite (and 2 others were found with the help of exile clues to know exact location).
•*** Sandra found hers in an OPEN search for the idol in Heroes vs Villains
Conclusion— I'm not quite sure, but in retrospect, it's a shame at the lack of women who have found an idol compared to nearly 9x as many men who have found it.

I've noticed this too
Maybe guys are just more aggressive in looking for it? IIRC from what I've read from AMAs on reddit there's a lot more idol searching than they show on TV in general.
