I felt the need to post this, since this topic has been brought up before...
For Christmas, my sperm donor bought my daughter Piper her first real computer. A Dell desktop and she absolutely loves it. She downloaded Discord, her favorite app.
About a week ago, Piper informed me that she received inappropriate images from a "friend" online. After investigating, I found out that an older male has been "grooming" my daughter and her male friend, Kyle. He told them he is bisexual and sent them both explicit images. My daughter is 10 and her friend is 11.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children are involved.
I have never been so...frigging...alarmed....in my entire 10 years of being a mother. You hear about the stories, but you figure your kid is smart, there's no way it could happen to her or one of her friends!
But it CAN happen. There are tons of adults online who pose as kids to groom them. And my daughter is now a victim of it.
My eyes are open...
