Aw ty Flipflops! I was at a koala sanctuary and the keeper gave me the koala to hold. She was alert and awake. She grabbed my shirt and then shuffled around my hands and then very suddenly gripped really tightly and became a dead weight. She fell asleep on me and the keeper couldn't get her off. One of my favourite moments ever!
Oh, the username is completely random haha. All the names I wanted were taken, so I typed out random numbers just so I could start. I thought I'd be able to change my username later...
I travelled across Australia Becksta20 and because I'm a huge wildlife enthusiast, I held a few in Brisbane, Sydney and Cairns. Koalas only inhabit parts of Australia, so if you wish to hold a koala, I recommend going to Brisbane, as there are so many sanctuaries there. Due to various factors there aren't many in the wild, so you'd be unlikely to see them in the wild. :(
I'm British and there are no koalas in my country, so I wanted to make the most on my travels. The closest Koala to me is in Scotland lol.
75937563748 That’s awesome! When did you travel Australia? Did you enjoy it? I actually live near Brisbane but I got to hold a koala when I went to Cairns many years ago :)
I travelled there the first three weeks of March, just as Corona was exploding. I had to rush back to the UK LOL.
That is awesome! Brisbane is a beautiful city and the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was one of my favourites.
Ah, did you do that at the Kuranda koala sanctuary? Cairns was one of my favourite holidays destinations ever. I have never been somewhere so remote. Did you see the Great Barrier Reef? :)
75937563748 Wow, you are lucky you were able to get home!
There is so much to Australia... people don’t always realise until they actually come here or look into holidaying here.
It might have been Kuranda but thinking back it actually could have been when I was in Sydney... I’ve forgotten it was so long ago! But yes I’ve snorkelled in the Great Barrier Reef and done a few boat trips in the area too.
I haven’t been to the UK but would like to go one day!
Yes Becksta20, there is so much in Aus. I knew I would have a great time, but I did not expect to love the country as much as I did and do so many awesome things. The Blue Mountains were probably the most stunning things I had seen. I hiked to the Seven Sisters and was mesmerised at all of the viewing platforms.
That's awesome. Sydney was my favourite city. Bondi had the coolest vibe about it.
Ah, well I think Australia has much more going on in terms of beautiful natural wonders and wildlife than the UK, but we have some nice areas. If you do come here I would recommend visiting St James' Park in London, as it has black swans, Pelicans and squirrels. It is probably my favourite part of London. :)
75937563748 did you get to Melbourne? It is even more amazing than Sydney in my opinion! The Blue Mountains are wonderful and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland (Maleny) is beautiful!
Will definitely check out St James’ Park when I finally make it over there! I have so many friends who are brits... love the accent too! There is a lot of history in the UK which is what I would be interested in!
No Becksta20, unfortunately I didn't go to Melbourne. All of my Aussie friends roasted me for that haha. I am glad I didn't that time tho, because I would probably have wound up stranded in Aus. I want to go there soon and check in on Sydney again as I only spent a few days there. I've heard amazing things about the Sunshine Coast. Apparently it gets the best sunrises?
I love the Aussie accent. Dare I say it is my favourite?
Yes, we have some great historical monuments! Luckily a lot of our best monuments are close together so you can easily see most if not all of the London ones in a day if you move quickly. :)
