2019's Worst Competitor is Dan Spilo from Survivor: Island of the Idols.
Final Placement: 6th out of 20 (Removed)
Predicted Placement: 20th out of 20th
There are so many things wrong with this son of a bitch. Let me just break it down bits by bits. Starting with before the show aired.
When cast was revealed for the season, I wasn't feeling him. He looked creepy and seemed like an older player that would be a raging dick. Come to find out that before the season actually started filming he traveled to the region where the season was being filmed. Giving him an environmental advantage going into it. Which is a load of shit. Found the source on Reddit spoiler pages. So some of that may not be true, but you can't be surprised if it is.
Let's go to the game portion of him. He started the game very....well boring. Didn't stand out for me. Until the whole situation with Kellee and Molly. So he went from boring to very creepy. He helped orchestrate blindsides to further his game, which I guess kudos. But do not think for a second I am praising him.
As the game went on (And by now everyone here knows) he started to behave inappropriately towards some of the contestants on the show. Most notably Kellee. It was made into full awareness and he received a warning....a fucking warning. That should be enough for him to go home right then and there. Instead Kellee gets the boot from it all. A game reason sure, but because Elizabeth and Missy twisted it to where it would work in their favor. That to me is disgusting. Dan seemed like for a moment to have some time away from the crap. Until episodes later where he would be removed for grabbing onto a crew member.
The fact that it took so long for action to be done is horrible to me, and it makes me look at the show from a different perspective. Probst said that there would be rules for the coming seasons, but it should have never gotten that bad in the first place. Producers of the show should be very ashamed of it all.
This man is a reason why women don't get taken seriously with sexual assault situations. He (along with those with him) brought the Me Too movement down by a lot. It just showed how it may look in an everyday setting vs what you see on TV. I know many people that have had problems with this and they would not be taken anymore seriously because it's easier to believe the man.
He's foul, arrogant, and all around nasty human being. I feel sorry for his wife and children knowing that they have a family member that is like that. I can only imagine what sort of heat they got for his actions.
I pray that someone like him never shows up on my television again, and I hope casting directors from all walks on reality television takes notes. Someone like him should never get any recognition or airtime.
To Dan, I must say fuck you and fuck everything about you. There is a special place in hell waiting for you.
