How did a shooter enter an Elementary School??

2ndMay 24, 2022 by Allison
my mother is a teacher and I once tried to bring a cake for her birthday and they literally told me I couldn't come in? Like aren't they supposed to be locked and under TIGHT security with a police officer or two??

Honestly it’s so easy to get in unlocked doors on the campus without being seen.

Yeah I don't really understand that either.. like usually elementary schools only have 1 entrance/exit for visitors.. unless he broke into the school.

apparently the dude shot his grandmother, drove to the school and just walked right in with the guns

I volunteer at an elementary school assistant teaching biology/chemistry concepts with a close friend of mine, and every time I go in its crazy amounts of security. Double locked doors, office check points, security, etc. It makes me feel a lot better for the kids there/myself, but like you said it also makes me wonder:

Maybe schools in Texas just dont have security like they do in our states?

They don’t zachbbs I live here and have to deliver to schools for work and I just walk right in and am at the front office within a seconds. It’s crazy

honestly depending on the campus (such as the one i work at) it's extremely easy to get into some of them.

allison i was a cop for 4 years and for 2 of them, i was a school resource officer at a middle school. our school had multiple entry points. they were intended to be locked but kids would just open the doors to adults even if they didn't know them. we would practice drills and tell the kids not to do that, but they did it anyway.

we even had some classrooms with entry doors that were outside. i started teaching at the same school after i left law enforcement and my classroom was one of them. always made me nervous.

zachbbs heyitsmaggee that’s what I figured. It sounds to me schools will have to be screened like airports which will take further money from our tax dollars.

My high school had a buzzer you had to press to be let in. They never checked the camera or called out to the person ringing, they would just open the door.

schools vary all over... I know some schools that are very secure & some that aren't. Some schools are very mediocre with it and secure some areas but also have a lot of other areas that are always unlocked and left open for the students/staff meaning anyone could come in at any time... At least this was how my high school was...

Mine had locked doors and there was a window outside whered you’d tell the front office person who you were and why you would there. Then they’d check or whatever and buzz you in

Also more schools around here are implementing metal detectors and what not
