Happy 1/11 everyone (or 11/1 for our non-american viewers). Last week, you were all challenged to send a song that reflected YOUR music taste, and I felt bad for bullying the songs I didn't like. Despite this, many of you still really delivered, and turkeylover came through with the win by lifting our spirits and giving us some quarantine confidence! Amazing job, gal. However, this week, we're flipping the script and we're all going to learn exactly WHY this is called Absolita's Music Taste, and not, oh, I dunno, someone else's music taste.
This week, your challenge is going to be all things ABSOLCORE. In so many words, I want you to pander as hard as possible. It's hard to explain how my brain works when it comes to music, so I consulted previous winner mastropola to help explain.
As much as this sounds like Sydney is just making fun of me and calling me a "trying to hard to be quirky" indiehead, she's right! Everything she's saying is totally true. I love edgy/quirky/weird music of all shapes and sizes, and I have a pretty broad taste when it comes to that.
I'd recommend you send something that's more pop/r&b/hip-hop/experimental, if you need some genre classifications. I won't give specific artist recommendations or discuss specific songs, but I will be available to field your questions about what types of music you should send if you're struggling with ideas. Additionally, feel free to use my old top blogs about music and/or the previous week's submissions for a good litmus test.
All in all, just send something that you think represents MY music taste, not yours! :3 Your submissions will be due TOMORROW, January 12th, at 11 PM EST, and as always... good luck, DJs!
If last round is any indication, I think we might have pretty similar taste. This is definitely more on the experimental side, but I think you might like it
