good morning, baristas! welcome back to the bar, where you compete in all of your barista challenges. last week, we dove into the depths for your best water recipes. congrats to jan ( darktyphoon23) for winning with his iced lemon water!
this week, we're kicking it up a notch. water is a tough bar, but it's hard to mess it up. for this challenge, we're doing SODA! yes, the fizzy somethings that we all love to drink to give ourselves sugar highs and heart conditions at age 30.
so, simple challenge, but broad concept. how will you prepare your soda? will you follow the recipe of a brand name, or will you try and make your own? here's a couple guidelines, just to get you started:
1. i would suggest making SURE your drink is carbonated this week. that is easily the bottom line. no fizz, no shizz.
2. just as a recommendation- i don't mind sweet drinks, but don't go overboard. i already drink enough coffee to rot my teeth.
your submissions this week will be due TOMORROW at 6 PM EST, around the time this blog expires, and judging will be sometime that night assuming y'all don't all decide to send right before the deadline.
good luck, baristas. make me an offer i cannot refuse.

Here is a bottle of blue dog served to you straight from sam of the hit show sam and cat. It’s so good all of the stuff under the picture happens https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ac/31/bc/ac31bca045ae254988b55e20a37c28ee.jpg
Sam goes to get some Blue Dog Soda, but she isn't allowed. A man explains that Blue Dog Soda was banned in California because of how much sugar it had. He says that there are people who drink 10-12 bottles of it a day. Sam and Cat complain that they just drink 1-2 bottles a week, but the man won't remove the Blue Dog ban.
Sam, Cat, Goomer, and Dice try to make bootleg Blue Dog Soda after Cat figures out the recipe, and they begin illegally selling the beverage undercover. The man who placed the ban then finds out and says that they're in lots of trouble, but they eventually convince him to lift the ban for Blue Dog Soda.
i've prepared some of taco bell's FAMOUS mountain dew baja blast - the iconic drink that bursts with just the right amount of tropical lime flavor while maintaining its refreshing nature to wash down any crunch wrap supreme. enjoy!
I've prepared the infamous McDonald's Sprite. Providing that cool rush of highly acidic, tingly goodness with a tang to it that balances it out any potential sweetness to overbear the beverage. I paired this with ice to activate the kinkiness of the drink and enhance that experience you would have at your local Micky D's, only gourmet.
It's 2006, your dad FINALLY agrees to take you to go see Monster House. School is starting in roughly 3 weeks so he splurges and gets you a large soda and a popcorn as a symbol of one last hurrah.
You get to your seats and you wrap both of your hands around your status symbol of a thirst quencher and take a big gulp, fingers completely numb by the cold sweating of the plastic container. Down the hatch it goes, and the soda is more CRISP than Snap, Crackle, and Pop collectively, and your mouth briefly feels the way a vacuum sounds before escaping down your spine and out of your body.
You let out one full bellied BELCH that makes room for your popcorn, place the soda in your cup holder, and watch as the Unaccompanied Minors trailer ends and the lights begin to dim.
